President of United States of America: Barack Obama
United States of America made history on November 4, 2008 as a Senator from Illinois won the highest political seat of the most powerful country in the world. He is no other than Barack Obama, and he definitely made quite a stir as he made a few firsts that will definitely be in history books.
- He is the first African American to be nominated as Presidential Candidate by a Major Political Party (Democrat).
- He is the first Presidential candidate born in Hawaii.
- He is the first African American elected as President of the United States.
Obama will begin his duties in leading the Americans on January 20, 2009 and in his victory speech in Chicago, he proclaimed that “change has come to America”.
Congratulations, President Obama. We are hoping that the changes are for the good.
Wasted Media, Goodbye Data?
Digital media is now the epitome of Information Technology since it is possible to store millions of data into a compact digital media. And people like me who consistently gather information from the Internet, storage space has become somewhat difficult to maintain. There is no (disk) space too large for me. That is why making data backups to a separate media like CD’s and DVD’s are next to cleanliness, which is next to godliness. Well, you get the point.
But digital media are not meant to stay forever. We all know that. Despite consistent manufacturer claims that their DVD’s are meant to last a lifetime, they are probably talking about the physical media, not the data that it carries. I have a lot of discs that looks like it is in good working condition, but is totally unreadable by the optical drive. God knows what data is inside since I have a bad habit of not labeling the discs properly.
So what if you have an important data to recover from a defective CD or DVD? I would have probably cried myself to sleep and pray that I still have my job the next morning. But some people find ways and information about data recovery but having your data extracted by someone else for you is expensive, not to mention unsafe especially if the data is confidential.
The safest and most convenient way is still having a data recovery software to get you through. One software that helps people recover their data from a damaged or defective DVD’s and CD’s is Recover Disc, which runs under Microsoft Windows. It supports CD and DVD media with ISO or UDF file systems, even discs with data from digital camcorders.
The software is available for download from the official website and evaluation period is 30 days.
Keeping Up with Windows Registry
Windows Registry is a location in a operating system that stores settings and options of hardware and software components. In layman’s term, the registry is like a library of computer data. Mess with your registry and you mess with the operating system and might be doing a disk format eventually.
Registry errors might result from virus or malware infection or just plain curiosity. I have once done a wrong move of editing my computer’s registry and eventually came up with a freshly installed Windows XP.
Instead of doing the messing around yourself that might trash your system, it is always advisable to use software to assist in keeping your registry in place. Software like windows registry cleaner are easy to find when you search the Internet. Registry cleaners do the hard work and makes it safe to remove virus and trojans that are infecting the system. They also keep the registry in top shape and prevent unauthorized editing of the registry keys.
Uniblue is one of Microsoft Gold certified partners that provides safe registry cleaner that scans and analyzes your system for errors. Uniblue also offers free system scan for site visitors.
Always remember to keep your registry in top shape to help optimize your system’s performance.
PC Port Numbers
I am not going to talk about Math here, I barely passed my Math subject back in school. But being a system administrator, I have encounters with port numbers every day. And I admit, there are thousands of port numbers today, and how do you know which one is which?
In comes pc-library.com where every port like TCP Port 445is defined and explained. With its extensive information about ports, system and network administrators like me can get information about port numbers. Knowledge of how a port is used can help provide a secure computing environment for everyone. A little security implemented a user can use a port safely without fear of being compromised.
Find People with Your PC
Decades ago, finding people using your home computer is only possible in movies, television and at CERN. Maybe FBI can do it as well but today, everyone with access to a computer and Internet connection can make it possible to find people.
One website that offers very simple way to track friends and family is Search People directory (www.searchpeopledirectory.com). The website is very easy to use and pleasing to the eyes if you want to perform people search by address. The website clearly knows that websites should be simple and user-friendly and does not overwhelm the user with so much tabs and drop-downs that visitors are scared away and never to come back. Searching people only requires the last name but the search will be more precise if first name and the state are given as well.
I tried their services by searching for someone I know (name will not be mentioned) and the site amazingly found the person as well as the records. For a small fee, you can even expand the search and perform background check like credit reports, court records, criminal records and even find relatives.
This website is a great tool for companies who want to perform background checks on potential employees. People looking for friends and family members can also benefit from this website as the site can search for home address histories of people in their database.
Since the site requires payment to receive full information, potential identity theives might get discouraged because the payment also requires the some information from the user. This also helps deter stalkers and not risk of having someone get hold of your personal identification.
