I accidentally clicked a link to Gmail’s blog and here is what I have discovered. Did you know that you can alter your email address AND still receive your emails? Here are two examples:

1. Append “+” sign plus any word or number after your email address. So if my email address is kamotegirl@gmail.com, I can use kamotegirl+plug@gmail.com as my email address when I subscribe to PLUG mailing list. This way, I can use Gmail’s filters to label messages sent to kamotegirl+plug@gmail.com as emails that were from a mailing list.

2. Gmail does not recognize periods (.) as characters in addresses. This means you can insert “.” anywhere in your email address and still receive the email. Like for example, kamote.girl@gmail.com is same as my original email address, kamotegirl@gmail.com. You can go wild with dots, like k.amote.g.irl@gmail.com, and still get that email.

Neat, huh? :D
