Interesting post, but I agree with Atchucan: lack of support for mainstream games on Linux is a major barrier for widespread adoption.

I play games on my console – not my PC. If I played games on my PC, I would (shudder) have to install windows.

I have both Ubuntu and Fedora but the one thing that's making me NOT make the big switch completely is gaming. As long as upcoming game titles (like Starcraft 2) won't run on Linux natively, I'll be forced to keep using my Microsoft OS. Atchucan Gaming´s last blog post is Starcraft Modded to Starcraft 2

Great post.. ive been using ubuntu intrepid now with KDE 4.3 (Kubuntu 8.10) and im loving it, yet i cannot run compiz because of my sis chipset i heard that sis was never be linux/ubuntu compatible. yet for me LINUX Wins..
