Pingu the Penguin
Linux is represented by a free-spirited, albeit flightless birds that can survive even under the harshest weather condition. A perfect symbol for the freedom-loving OSS developers, advocates and users.
I also have my own reason why I love penguins. Penguins themselves are contradictory by nature. Birds are commonly able to fly, a distinctive quality of their class in our ecosystem. But penguins are considered flightless birds – birds that do not fly, but instead spend more time in water and some cases, on ice.
I have my fair share of penguin related collections which range from plushies, mugs, toys, etc. But that is for another post. I also love the famous silent animation called Pingu, led by a penguin named Pingu. Pingu is a cartoon made for children by a Swiss named Otmar Gutman. Though Pingu is made from Switzerland, it is famous all around the world because of its lack of dialogue. Pingu characters use a language of their own called Penguinese, which is just plain Penguin sounds.
I love Pingu and I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t be. Here is a short vid of an episode called ‘Pingu Goes Fishing’.
