PinoyTux Contest: Free Webhosting!

It’s been a long time since I have started this blog but this is the first time that I am going to run a contest for my readers. I hope that this contest is going to be a successful one, though

About the contest:

If you are a constant reader of my blog, you probably know that I am a dissatisfied customer of 3ix.org, my previous hosting prior to 1and1.com. As a result of their utterly poor and hellish service, I decided to cancel my account to them and asked them for a refund. Unfortunately, the hosting provider refused over and over again to return my money. And since no one wants to give my money back, I will just use it as a prize for my own contest!

The contest will run from June 1, 2008 – June 26, 2008. Deadline of submitting the entries is on June 26, 23:29 PDT (GMT -7) The winners will be announced on June 30, 2008.

The objective of the contest:

What I want to achieve in this contest is to increase readership in my blog and that is what every blogger wants, right? I hope more readers will continue to read my blog, right after the contest. And of course, I want to share my blessings as a nearly-almost-there-successful blogger to the lucky winners

The contest prizes:

A contest is not a contest without a prize. Therefore, the following are the stuff that I will be giving away for the lucky winners:

First Prize: 3ix Webhosting Account
- Expires on 04/05/2009 (that is what is stated on the account page)
- Web Hosting – Extra Plan – 30,000mb (30GB) Space, Unlimited Bandwidth, Host 3 Websites
- Powered by 3ix.org
- Can be downgraded to Excite Plan, the renewal date will be extended

Other Prizes:

(2) Winners of $5 each, Paid through PayPal (Winners must have valid PayPal account)
(2) Winners of 500 Entrecard credits each (Convertible to $5 by PayPal)

What is required to qualify for the contest:

Since the goal of this contest is to attract more readers, these the guideline which one may do to gain a point. A point represents the number of entries. Here is the breakdown of the points:

2 Points – Create a comment here on this post.
3 Points – Subscribe to PinoyTux RSS feeds by email and let me know that you have done so by posting a comment. This alone gives you 5 points!
Use the form above (Subscribe by email) or use this form:

5 Points – Write a post on your own blog about this contest and create a link back to this post. Please be kind, avoid using the nofollow tag, I appreciate the incoming links
2 Bonus Points – Create another comment on a different topic on PinoyTux (except this one)

So if you have done all these, you will have 12 points in the contest. That is 12 chances of winning the free webhosting account!

How the winners will be selected:

buzzmyblog.com has an online script that can help me with picking the winners in the fairest manner. I decided to use a third party software/script so that the drawing of the winner is transparent to all.

If you know a better software or program that can pick winners based on the number of entries (not just a random number picker), let me know

PS: Only one prize for each winner. If a winner wins twice, the winner can select which prize he wants to take and there will be another draw for the other prize. Only one prize per winner.

PPS: I have increased the Entrecard credits to 500. Subject for conversion to cash equivalent to $5 paypal money upon winner’s request.

wow, finally, i congratulate you for having a new contest here with your tux blog and regrets for having that 3pix hosting, too. personally, i have troubles with them trying to unblock my network IP block from them that spanned to 3 months of troubleshooting, completely left me with zero solution replies.

anywayz, joining in! i could be a lucky winner sometimes…

but, been reading and dropping from time to time here even without the contest coz we’re both up fighting on the same OS cause.
