I have always been a believer that credit cards are nice things to have in your wallet. Most of the time, I use my card for my online purchases like domain registration and web hosting. And I am convinced that I am an impulsive buyer so I was so sure that aside from my e-purchases, I was bound to abuse my credits. Thank goodness I am still able to maintain good credit standing. I do not have the habit of missing my due dates, except when the statement account gets lost in the mail which usually happens a lot. That is why I prefer to receive my statements in my email instead of snail mail.

I have a few credit cards in my wallet, one of which I have already stashed away. Why? Not only the customer support is crappy but they won’t forgive you if you failed to settle your balances before the date, even if it is not your fault, like not receiving the statement of account AND they expect you to memorize your due date or they will put penalty charges to your account. Horrible service! While my other cards is always open for negotiation like if you request to delay your payment, they will agree as long as you keep your side of the agreement.

Aside from my card, I also have a current auto loan for my spanking new ride. I decided to get an auto loan because I’d rather pay every month for my car, than keep saving money for the ride and hope that I will not ‘accidentally’ spend it. At least this way, I know where my money is going. I suggest that you check out auto loans archive to learn more about this topic.

Not only I used my cards for buying stuff when I am short on cash, I used them during a family emergency when we had death in our family. I used my card to pay for some of the things that we need and it was really helpful. Though there are finance charges when you use your card, it always nice to have contingency plans when it comes to finances.
